Gerard Taylor – Creative Director, Orangebox
Gerard Taylor is the founder of Gerard Taylor Design and the Creative Director of Orangebox. He studied product design at the Glasgow Scotland and at the Royal College of Art, London, where he received a Masters degree.
Following graduation, Taylor was hired by the influential and pre-eminent Italian designer, Ettore Sottsass, and joined his design studio in Milan, where he worked with many renowned brands including Knoll, Artemide, Espirit and Phillips.
Taylor was also invited to participate with Memphis, a collective of international designers, who not only established Italy’s reputation as a centre of design excellence, but also went on to dominate the international design scene during the 1980s. Many of Taylor’s pieces from this time have become coveted and are held in several museum collections.
On his return to London, Taylor established an award-winning, creative consultancy, focused on the design of retail environments, private residences, furniture and product design for both UK and International clients.
The last decade has seen Taylor increasingly concentrate on his role as Creative Director at Orangebox the UK’s most progressive, innovative and successful office furniture company and as a speaker of keynote presentations at tech/workplace conferences, globally.
