Dan Chong – President, HBF
An MBA graduate of the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, Chong’s career in the office furnishings industry started in 1984. Selected to participate in Steelcase’s Executive Management Program, he worked in New York City, and helped pioneer several market growth strategies including: a national design and architecture program; global account management strategy; and dealer distribution management plan.
Chong gained national recognition throughout the industry when he joined Metro Furniture in 1994. There, he climbed the ranks with a focus on introducing transformative products to the office environment, and achieved the position of President and CEO. Chong participated in the transition of the Steelcase Design Partnership into Coalesse, and following this shift, he was named Vice President, Design Community Strategy at Steelcase. While in this role, he strengthened Steelcase’s relationships with the A&D community throughout North America.
In 2010, Chong founded architxture LLC, an independent contract furnishings dealership in Southern California, where he continued to connect with top architects, designers, and specifiers by positioning his business as a collaborator throughout the design and development process. In 2012, he joined Allermuir to shape the company’s brand vision and strategy, and built its presence and sales growth in North America. And in June 2017, Chong joined HBF and HBF Textiles as president.
